JOB DESCRIPTION
Davidson College invites applications for the position of Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training student-athletes, recruiting, scheduling, coordinating team travel and working with the head coach in directing all phases of a Division I program, including organizing and supervising all practices and games. Davidson competes in the A-10 conference.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate effectiveness in coaching college level athletes, good supervisory skills, and the ability to relate to students in a leadership role. Additionally understanding of student athletes in a demanding academic environment and a commitment to the highest ideals of leadership, sportsmanship and academics are required.
This is a full time position with regular employee benefits. Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Duties
Assist in court and classroom instruction of women's volleyball; coaching techniques and strategies; evaluate individual performances and provide leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies as required. These duties require assisting in the day-to-day practice plans and coordinating off season conditioning and skill training.
Assist in planning and administering off-season physical training program; provide special training for individual team members as required.
Participate in comprehensive recruiting activities; coordinate efforts with Admissions Office to establish academic eligibility and arrange meetings between prospects and college officials; recommend individuals for scholarships. These duties require extensive travel on weekends and daily communication with prospective student athletes, including, but not limited to, weekly emails to recruits, maintaining recruiting database and weekly telephone communication.
Coordinate preparations for team travel and confirm all logistics for said travel. Confirm all travel prior to departure; verify all equipment is packed and develop travel plan with appropriate directions to all locations. Coordinate usage of College facilities for Women's Volleyball team to include court preparation, athletic equipment, uniforms, meeting rooms and practice as needed.
Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consult with College personnel and faculty for resolution of problems as required.
Represent and coordinate volleyball program efforts at professional, civic, charity and alumni events. Coordinate and assist in all fundraising activities and team banquets. Duties include communication with parents, coordinating and supervising specific fundraising events and managing team personnel in said activities.
Ensure direct compliance with NCAA, Atlantic 10, and Davidson College regulations and policies; ensure coaching staff's adherence to NCAA and Davidson College athletics regulations, policies, and overall mission of amateurism.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Collegiate volleyball and/or international playing experience
Coaching may be used in lieu of competitive playing experience
Good writing, organizational, and supervisory skills. Ability to relate to students in a leadership role. Good people skills
Basic computer competency
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and basic computer skills is highly desired
Experience with University Athlete, ARMS, and Volleymetrics software
Ability to demonstrate volleyball skills and occasionally participate in practice as a player
Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics
Ability to communicate effectively with all team members and staff within Davidson Athletics
Excellent administrative and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines
Ability to represent the Davidson College Volleyball program in a professional, positive and energetic manner
Previous collegiate coaching experience preferred
