Job Summary
The Department of Community and Leadership Development in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky seeks applications for a 12-month, tenure eligible Extension Title Series, Assistant Extension Professor.
The initial Distribution of Effort ( DOE) is anticipated to be 80% Extension, 15%
teaching, and 5% service ( DOE and assignments are subject to annual negotiation between the faculty
member and administration).
Primary responsibilities will include Extension program development, undergraduate/graduate instruction, program evaluation and training current and future Extension professionals. The faculty member will provide leadership to build Cooperative Extension's and the Department's capacity to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of educational programs in achieving desired results and to contribute to individual, community and organizational learning and performance improvement. Capacity building efforts will include initiatives such as conducting evaluation studies and assessments, supporting accountability and reporting functions, aligning organizational policies in support of evaluation, and teaching subject matter related to the scholarship of evaluation.

- Providing technical assistance to Extension colleagues in program design, logic model development, evaluation planning/design, & data collection
- Developing & providing various professional development experiences, such as in-service trainings
- Providing facilitative leadership to Extension program areas and academic departments with needs specific to evaluation
- Assisting Extension program assistants, agents & specialists in developing success stories/impact statements, reports, grants & other proposals as needed
- Creating, monitoring and updating programs/evaluation assessments to help strengthen county Plans of Work
- Teaching one course annually in the Department of Community & Leadership Development in an area related to Research Design, Evaluation, and/or Extension Education
- Advising graduate students in Community & Leadership Development
- Communicate to internal and external audiences the impact/value of Cooperative Extension in Kentucky such as working closely with Extension marketing teams to articulate the impact of Extension
- Collaborating with teams across program areas to develop and submit grant proposals
- Assisting with and monitoring the accomplishments of strategic planning initiatives
- Contributing to the Department's overall goals in scholarship, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

- Demonstrated success in conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research in several of the following areas: statistical analysis of data, survey design and development, expertise conducting interviews/focus groups/observations, strong analytical skills, experimental and quasi- experimental designs
- Demonstrated success in evaluating community-based non-formal educational programs that reach diverse (racial, ethnic, limited resource, etc.) audiences and communities
- Ability to teach and communicate ideas effectively (verbal, written and through educational technology)
- Proficiency with new technologies for use in conducting evaluations
- Expertise in working with and building the capacity of diverse and historically underrepresented groups
- Knowledge of and experience with the Cooperative Extension Service, thus demonstrating a strong commitment to its core values of community, discovery, inclusiveness and relationship building
- Understanding of the purpose/goals of the Land Grant mission
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills when working in an interdisciplinary team setting
