Job Description

The UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS Department of Accounting invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor of Accounting level beginning August 2024. With nearly 15,000 students, the University is the largest public research university in eastern Missouri. It serves a diverse student body whose influence on the region upon graduation is immense.

The AACSB-accredited College of Business Administration offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees in a variety of business disciplines. Within the College, the separately AACSB-accredited Accounting program offers a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accounting and supports DBA students emphasizing Accounting in their research. The department values its long history of successfully preparing students for professional certification. The Accounting Department is a collegial workplace comprised of faculty members with a variety of research and scholarship interests.

We seek colleagues who will actively pursue scholarly research, enthusiastically approach teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and engage with colleagues and the accounting profession to further UMSL's mission. Faculty are expected to: (1) conduct independent research in accounting and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals, (2) teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and (3) provide service to the department, the College, the University, the accounting profession and/or the wider community.

Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications: Candidates must have (or expect to complete) a Ph.D. in Accounting (or Ph.D. in Business with Accounting emphasis) from an AACSB-accredited university before the start date.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Candidates who hold or are qualified to hold a professional credential relevant to the accounting profession are preferred. Our foremost teaching needs currently are in Taxation and Managerial accounting. We welcome candidates with research interests in any area of accounting. We seek faculty who have experience or potential skill for supporting success through teaching and mentoring of students from a wide range of diverse backgrounds.
