Job Description

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position who will contribute to, support, and help advance the program.Housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department offers the BFA in Studio Practice, Graphic Design, and Art Education to more than 130 students through a well-established and progressive curriculum. The successful candidate will contribute to the department by developing and teaching coursework in areas such as 2D and 3D Animation, Game Art, and 3D Modeling. Strong candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach traditional Graphic Design skills that may include fundamentals of design, branding, typography, or illustration. The successful candidate will be motivated and adept at developing external partnerships, cross disciplinary scholarship opportunities, and funding sources in support of coursework, research, and creative practice. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a collegial mindset, and a potential for future leadership in the department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· 40% Teaching

· 40% Research/Creative Practice

· 20% Service

* Develop and teach coursework in areas such as2D and 3D Animation, Game Art, and 3D Modeling.

* Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive department and classroom environment

* Support student success through mentorship as well as effective teaching practices using traditional, flexible and digital delivery methods

* Collaborate with faculty to maintain / develop course curricula

* Perform service to the department, college and university

* Perform other duties as designated by the Department Chair

* Willingness to participate in recruitment activity, portfolio review, and retention efforts

Qualifications

Minimum Required:
* MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Animation, Graphic Design or closely related field by contract start date.
* Evidence of proficiency with industry standard software/hardware

Candidate will be evaluated on:
* Experience teach college level courses
* Experience seeking external partnerships and funding opportunities
* A track record of developing cross-disciplinary collaborations
* Strength in teaching 3D/animation/graphic design/concept/typography
* Professional animation and/or digital 3D rendering experience
* Professional design portfolio
