Research Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Research, University of Pittsburgh

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the level of Research Assistant Professor in the appointment stream for this research faculty position. The position is available immediately and requires a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and working experience on neural circuits related to anesthesiology research, pain management research, opioid-related research, addiction-related research, or a related field with experience in managing and analyzing data from preclinical research studies or health sciences research or observational studies, or animal behavioral studies.

Define research questions/hypotheses and determine methods for study design, with an emphasis on neural circuits for anesthesia, pain perception, drug dependence and addiction, or opioid abuse. Design and conduct animal experiments using chemogenetic and optogenetic approaches, perform animal behavior tests and manage and analyze experimental data. Analysis may include multivariate linear and logistic regression, multi-level data analysis, fixed and random effects, multiple discrimination analysis, cluster analysis, and machine learning analyses. Analyze and synthesize research results using skills in data visualization, manuscript preparation, grant writing, research teaching, and mentoring trainees and students.
