Summary of Position: Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the physical facilities (buildings and grounds). May do occasional snow shoveling. Completes assigned work orders independently and within a team atmosphere. Responsible for special assignments and projects at the direction of the Facility Operations Manager and Tomah Campus Coordinator. Occasional weekend and Holidays as needed for emergency cleaning.
This is a non-benefit eligible part-time position working 20 hours/week, second shift variable schedule.
Essential Functions
- Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
3. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western’s culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
4. Cleaning and Maintenance - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets including treating stains and extraction of carpets and furniture. Stripping and waxing floors.
- Dust vertical and horizontal surfaces
- Clean and Sanitize restrooms, drinking fountains, etc. using established practices and procedures
- Clean elevator
- General cleaning and maintenance including cleaning glass, spot cleaning, etc.
- Perform emergency and project-related cleaning
- Snow Plowing - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- May physically shovel and de-ice walkways
- Work Order Completion - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Grounds upkeep - litter removal, empty trash and ash urns as needed
- Computer and operating systems knowledge along with understanding operating instructions for cleaning equipment
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical College education
- One year experience in a custodial related position
Required Testing:
- Physical (ability to pick up and carry 45 lbs, standing for prolonged periods of time)
- Hearing baseline test and annual audiogram testing
Required License:
- Valid Driver's License
